An organization called Moms Demand Action meets tonight on the Northwest Missouri State campus.

Leader of the organization, Jessica Piper says civil rights activist Pam Peterson from Chicago will be the keynote speaker.

"She's worked with the Vietnam War POW efforts to try to get things to veterans that they need - counseling, sometimes food and housing.  She's been to D.C. several times.  She's just a really great role model for activism."

Piper says the group will also review new gun legislation slated for discussion in next year's Missouri General Assembly session. Tonight's meeting gets underway at six o'clock at Colden Hall on the Northwest campus.
